FOPABOMB - WELLIGAMA FISHERMEN

The mind-blowing tradition of Sri Lankan stilt fishermen: Locals says that everything started during World War II when food was short and fishing spots crowded, so without many options some clever men decided to start fishing on the water. In the beginning they used to stand on wrecked ships, but nowadays they stand on stilts attached to coral reefs. This fascinating culture treasure can be spot along the 30-kilometer shore between the towns of Unawatuna and Weligama.
