The Jigokudani Monkey Park is located in Yamanouchi, Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture in Japan.⠀ ⠀ Due its very steep cliffs and the steam coming off the hot springs the ancient people called this valley "Jigokudani (Hell valley)". Despite its scary name there is nothing to fear, unless you are a banana, because then you will be in great troubles.⠀ ⠀ Why? Thanks to its chilling environment the place is inhabited by a troop of wild Japanese macaque (popularly known as snow monkeys) that have been living there through the ages. The Monkey paradise, is a popular location to spot monkeys bathing, relaxing and having a blast, not a bad life eh? #Traveltrip: Even though you can spot monkey throughout the whole year, the best time is in the Winter which runs generally between November – March.
